Release info :

"Forward" is the long awaited debut album from Ras Fire & the Righteous Rockers. Ras Fire has been playing reggae music for 15 years. When he had gathered the Righteous Rockers around him, he came out with his music, on stage as well as in the studio. "Forward" is the jewel in the crown of these efforts and the epilogue of a period in his life. This album features 14 superb contemporary roots tracks recorded at RUNN Records Studio and mixed at Grove Studio, Ocho Rios, Jamaica. Mixing engineer of Burning Spear fame, Barry O'Hare, has personally taken care of Ras Fire's tapes and the result is simply astonishing. A very beautiful, powerful reggae CD, roots & culture from the mind and the heart of a true born rastaman, the likes of which they seldom make anymore, but which does sound 100% Jamaican. Forward!

Review by Chuck Foster, published in The Beat :

Ras Fire is an inspirational reggae singer/songwriter if there ever was one. Born with muscular dystrophy, able to move only his eyes and mouth, he fronts Ras Fire & The Righteous Rockers live and on their debut CD "Forward". The disc's 14 tracks offer a divers musically rich and culturally poignant message of strength in Rastafari. The dub-textured rhythms offer plenty of picking guitar and bubbling keys in the authentic Jamaican style with fluid bass and drum interaction and a bevy of backing singers. Recorded in the Netherlands and mixed at Grove in Ocho Rios with Ras Fire producing and Barry O'Hare in the main on the mix, every song is to the point and "Too Long In Slavery", "Livication Song", "King Tafari" and "Got To Unite" draw extra strength from the origin. RUNN Records releases have always had a forward sound and this one is especially engaging.
